The bid is considered not high enough by the team from the South coast as Tottenham continue their defensive rebuild after the end of the campaign.
The club from North London made things official with the opening bid for the Dutch defender. However, Brighton will only see Van Hecke for 70 million pounds, but Spurs are optimistic that they can reach a deal after negotiations.
The transfer is wanted by the new Tottenham head coach, who worked with the Dutch footballer between 2022 and 2024.
Jan’s deal with Brighton is until 2027, and it will be in the Seagulls’ best interest to sell him for a high price this summer or risk losing him as a free agent next year, and that’s what Spurs will try to exploit to pay less for the defender.
