The career of Ansu Fati as a Barcelona player will end soon after Monaco decided to trigger the buy clause in his loan contract.
The sale of Fati gives Barca a very important fresh injection of money that they can use to balance the books during the summer transfer window. The French team will pay 11 million euros for Ansu after the forward spent the past campaign on loan in France.
Fati was one of the biggest young talents from the Catalan side academy, but a series of injuries set him back, and after that, he was not part of the main squad of Barcelona and was sent on loan. Besides the 11 million euros that the Catalan side will receive, they will also not have to pay Fati’s high salary anymore, as he had a deal until 2028, earning almost 9 million euros per year.
The selling of Fati will allow Barca to have significant funds for salaries without breaking LaLiga’s financial rules and the Catalan side can use it to make another transfer this summer after already landing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle.
