Celtics trash Heat 118-84 and advance to East 1/2 finals

Jaylen Brown and Derrick White each notched 25 points, and the Boston Celtics advanced to the Eastern Conference ½ finals, defeating the short-handed Miami Heat 118-84 in Game 5 at TD Garden in Boston, MA.

Celtics will play against the winner of Cavaliers-Magic matchup. Cavs lead 3-2, with Game 6 in Florida on Friday.

Jaylen also had 6 assists, and Derrick had 5 three-pointers.  Sam Hauser scored 17 points, and Jayson Tatum finished with 16 points and 12 boards. The top-seeded Boston never trailed and led by 35 points. The Celtics also avenged the past season’s elimination from Miami in Game 7 of the conference finals in Boston.

Bam Adebayo notched 23 points, and Tyler Herro had 15 for the Heat, which made its 1^st exit from the postseason before the conference finals since 2021. Miami finished 3 of 29 from the 3-point line.

Celtics were on the court for the 1^st time this playoffs without  Kristaps Porzingis after he strained his right calf in the previous match from the series.
