She fouled on her first two attempts, putting immense pressure on her third and final throw. Unfortunately, Jackson could only manage a distance of 17.60 meters, far below the automatic qualifying mark of 19.15 meters and almost two meters short of her usual performance. This placed her 17th overall, well outside the top 12 required to advance to Friday’s final.
The 30-year-old’s Olympic journey had already been marred by difficulties, including a widely shared social media post where she tearfully expressed frustration over her ill-fitting team kit. Reflecting on her performance, Jackson admitted she was uncertain about what went wrong, suggesting that the pressure may have gotten to her. She expressed a desire to be with her family following the disappointing outcome.
