The Atlanta Falcons can’t count on WR Darnell Mooney for a 2nd time in the current campaign.
Darnell, Atlanta’s 2nd wide receiver, will miss the upcoming MNF vs. the Buffalo Bills as he suffers from a hamstring problem, the organization revealed today.
The WR sustained his injury in Atlanta’s victory against the Commanders in Week 4. The Falcons had a bye week. He’s injured for a 2nd time since the summer. Mooney sustained a right shoulder problem on the 1st day of training camp at the end of July, before being unavailable until the end of the camp and the opening week.
Now the franchise must trust more 2nd-year WR Casey Washington with Darnell unavailable, along with other starters Drake London, Ray-Ray McCloud III, and TE Kyle Pitts.
Mooney has 7 catches for 79 yards in 3 matches this campaign. In the past season, Darnell finished with 64 catches for 992 yards and a career-high 5 TDs.
Atlanta’s top CB Kyle Pitts, who missed the match against Washington also with a hamstring problem, is cleared ahead of the match on Monday and is expected to start vs. the Bills.
