Inter close to ink former Man City defender Stones

England defender John Stones is very close to join Inter as a free agent as he is a free agent after his deal with the Sky Blues expired in the past month.

John is wanted by several big clubs, including Chelsea, which would have given him the chance to continue to play in the Premier League, while Juventus was also very interested in bringing him to Italy.

However, Inter is the frontrunner for the defender as the Serie A champs have held positive talks with Stones, and the two sides are very close to agreeing on a 2-year deal.

The English defender played 295 matches for Manchester City after joining from Everton for almost 50 million pounds 10 years ago.

Stones won the Premier League 6 times during his period at Etihad, while also triumphing in the UCL, twice in the FA Cup, and other trophies both in England and on the international stage.

The ex-Barnsley player has played 93 matches for the national team and was part of the Three Lions squad that finished in the 3^rd place in the 2026 World Cup.
