The Blues are in talks to sign the Seagulls striker.

The veteran forward Danny Welbeck, who is 35 years old, wants to become a Chelsea player, and there is optimism from the Blues that this can happen.

The west London club wants to change the model of only signing young footballers as the directors at Stamford Bridge realized that they also need experienced players, and the Seagulls forward is a good fit.

Welbeck scored a career-high 13 Premier League goals in 37 matches for Brighton in the past campaign, taking his tally to 51 goals in 201 games since joining from Watford 6 years ago.

The Seagulls didn’t comment on the potential transfer rumors.

Danny inked a 1-year extension during the spring, with his current contract running until the end of the 2026-27 campaign. There are questions over the futures of several of the Blues strikers, with Joao Pedro regarded as the team’s 1st-choice option.

The club from Stamford Bridge also has Liam Delap, Emmanuel Emegha, Marc Guiu, and Nicolas Jackson.

Chelsea are ready to sell Guiu and Jackson as they want at least 25 million pounds for Marc, while Nicolas is valued even higher.
