Chelsea leader Reece James is set to be sidelined for 3 months after undergoing a knee procedure.
The Blues captain, who is 26 years old, was injured in training before his team’s 5-1 victory against Bournemouth over the past weekend. Reece is now undergoing rehabilitation with the club’s medical team, as no timeline has been given for his return yet.
Chelsea will next play Everton away before facing Tottenham and Man United at Stamford Bridge. However, the Blues will travel again to play against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup between those 2 home matches.
Reece has sustained multiple injuries in recent years and has also missed several international tournaments with the national team since the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
James’s record with England improved significantly last campaign, helping him become one of the stars of the Three Lions at the World Cup this summer, where they finished 3rd.
Chelsea captain Reece James is expected to miss around three months of action after undergoing knee surgery.
James’ timeline for recovery means that he could return in mid-January, into the second half of the Premier League season, with the club ensuring that he is not rushed back.
While being sidelined with injury once again is major blow for the player himself, @SJohnsonSport explains why it is perhaps not as damaging to Chelsea as it has been in the past.
