Kyle Palmieri had a goal and an assist, as he also reached a career-high four points. The 32-year old was honoured to achieve this feat against his former team.
“Feels Nice just to do it,” Palmieri said after his latest return to Anaheim,
“Doesn’t matter where it was. Our line stepped up and was able to make a positive contribution. … (Engvall) is fitting in well with us, and it’s clear he’s working hard.”
Brock Nelson scored two goals, the first of which a tiebraking one in the second period, before adding another in the third to reach 30 goals in a second consecutive campaign for the Islanders. Pierre Engvall also scored to equal his career best 15 goals.
New York currently sit on top of the Eastern Conference wild-card standings tied with Pittsburgh and five points ahead of third-placed Florida. The Penguins and the Panthers will both fancy their chances, as they both have 3 games in hand.
