Kylian Mbappe claimed there is no personal battle with Leo Messi despite the 2 continuing to climb the World Cup scoring charts.
Real Madrid forward scored a brace in a 3-0 victory against Iraq to tie Miroslav Klose as both had 16 World Cup goals, while his national team secured their place in the elimination phase with a 2nd consecutive triumph.
With Lionel Messi only ahead of him at the moment with more goals scored at World Cups, Mbappe was asked about his rivalry with the Argentinian superstar.
“There is rivalry,” Kylian insisted. “Messi also scored, and he will continue to do that. I don’t watch what Leo does, I only look at my team. When you score goals in the World Cup, it’s amazing, but for me, the most important thing is our team’s performance.”
Kylian scored his 2 goals against Iraq in his 100th appearance for the national team. France head coach Deschamps believes Mbappe will break more records.
