Despite an early setback with an own goal by Franco Negri giving Nashville the lead in the 2nd minute, Messi quickly responded by equalizing in the 11th minute after a precise assist from his former Barcelona teammate Luis Suarez.
Messi continued to impress, narrowly missing a goal as he struck the crossbar later in the first half. His influence on the game remained undeniable as he provided an assist to Sergio Busquets, another former Barcelona colleague, who found the back of the net to put Inter Miami ahead 2-1 in the 39th minute.
As the match progressed, Messi put the result beyond doubt by converting a penalty in the 81st minute, securing his team’s victory with a final score of 3-1.
With this outstanding performance, Messi’s tally for the season now stands at 9 goals and 5 assists in just 9 matches for Inter Miami.
