Contract details are yet to be revealed, but it is believed that Wahlstrom will receive $874,125 annually.
Wahlstrom has endured a difficult 2022-23 campaign, which came to premature end on December 27 in a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, when he suffered horror knee-injury that sidelined him to the end of the season.
Islanders coach Lou Lamoriello said near the end of the season that Wahlstrom is expected to be healthy by training camp.
The 23-year-old has played 161 NHL games in his career and has scored 32 goals and has made 29 assists, along with 61 points.
He was 11th overall selected by the Islanders in the 2018 NHL Draft.
