The Irishman secured the title in Scotland after an excellent display
Rory Mcllroy expressed his relieve of the trophy he clinched at the Scottish Open and said that the triumph will act as the perfect preparation for the upcoming tilt at the Open.
The 34-year-old hasn’t won in Liverpool since 2014 and will be looking to end his nine year drought.
“I couldn’t ask for better preparation,” Mcllroy said.
“The way I played the last two holes was an amazing finish and a perfect way to come into this week.”
“The way I played the last two holes, going into the next few months and seasons I can always draw on that memory of being able to get it done under the toughest of conditions,” the 34-year-old added.
