Slot declines Netherlands job to focus on club football

The ex-Liverpool head coach, Arne Slot, has revealed he held discussions over the vacant Netherlands position but withdrew because he wants to continue his career in club football.

Slot led Liverpool to their 20^th Premier League trophy in his debut campaign, but finished 5^th in the league and was dismissed a few months ago.

Ronald Koeman stepped down from his 2^nd spell as Netherlands boss after they were eliminated by Morocco in the World Cup in the 1/16 finals after a shootout.

Arne denied rumors that he had withdrawn from talks with the KNVB (Royal Dutch Football Association) after failing to reach an agreement over his deal.

“The reports that I had withdrawn from the talks about becoming the next Netherlands manager after talks about salary and deal duration are not true,” Slot revealed.

“We never discussed that because I want to continue my career in club football. That’s why I ended the talks before talking about potential salary and contract duration.”

Slot added that someday he would be happy to be the head coach of his country, but now his focus is to find a job in club football.
