It was a pretty stale affair with neither team able to break the deadlock and not many chances in front of both goals.
Wout Weghorst missed a first half penalty as he struck his shot rather unconvincingly to the goalkeeper’s left, which made for a very easy safe.
The Greeks tried to create chances, but by doing so left themselves vulnerable at the back. As a result, they conceded a last minute penalty for foul play on Denze Dumfries. After a lengthy VAR check the penalty kick was eventually given.
Up stepped Virgil van Dijk and with calmness and precision the 32-year-old gave his team the desired breakthrough.
It is a massive result for the Orange team as they leapfrog Greece for 2nd in the group, behind runaway leaders France, who have all but secured a spot at the Euros.
