The friendly between Barcelona and Juventus in Santa Clara, California, which was due to take place today, has been cancelled. This was announced by the Catalan club, citing a stomach virus that affected a large part of Xavi Hernandez’s squad as the reason.
“Barcelona informs that the match against Juventus, scheduled for July 22 at 7:30 p.m at Levi’s Stadium, part of the Soccer Champions Tour, has been cancelled. A large part of the “Blaugranas” squad is suffering from a stomach virus”, reads the statement released by the club.

This was to be the first pre-season match for both Barcelona and Juventus. Despite the canceled meeting, the Catalans still have three scheduled friendlies on American soil, against Arsenal, Real Madrid and AC Milan. The Old Lady also has scheduled friendlies against the Rossoneri and Los Blancos in the States.
