Jimmy Butler played his 1st match for the Golden State Warriors without practice or even the benefit of going through the morning shootaround before the match against the Chicago Bulls.
Despite that, Jimmy looked exactly what everyone in the Dubs thought they would get as they traded for him, and he inked a new 2-year, 111 million-dollar contract. Butler notched 7 of 12 shots, got to the foul line 13 times, and finished with 25 points to help Golden State come back from a 24-point deficit and defeat Chicago 132-111 in the windy city.
Jimmy’s 25 points were the most in a debut for a new organization and the most in the 1st match for Golden State since Kevin Durant in 2016.
“The thing that I liked the most was with his passing,” Kerr shared. “Butler passing changes everything. … The skill, the strength, the knowledge to win free throws.
He is just a star and a lion, and that changes everything for our team in a positive way.”
Steph Curry and Draymond Green also praised their new teammate after the victory in Chicago.
Steph Curry on Jimmy Butler: “He’s like the exact opposite player of me. I took 16 3s and he shot one. He got to the free throw line a lot, dominated the paint. I dominate the perimeter. It has the potential to be really fun.” pic.twitter.com/cUzXtNfLzW
