CanMNT was predicted to advance very easily from the CONCACAF Gold Cup group stage. However, things now are very different after the team’s first two matches at the competition.
Canada’s national team had a goalless draw vs. Guatemala at Houston’s Shell Energy Stadium.
CanMNT is in 3rd place in Group D with 2 points from their 1st two games, as Guatemala and Guadeloupe have 4 points each. Cuba is in the last place without a point. Only the 1st two nations in the group will make it to the ¼ finals.
The Canadian men’s soccer team must triumph versus Cuba on Tuesday. If they fail to get the victory, they will be eliminated from the Gold Cup. Even with a victory, they can still leave the tournament in the group stage as they depend on the result of the clash between Guatemala and Guadeloupe on the same day.
The roster composition of the CanMNT 🇨🇦 is roughly the same as a MLS team and they have no depth.
They have 3 “DPs”: Davies, David and Eustaquio.
A few on a max tam gam: Buchanan, Larin…
A few young promising homegrown like Kone.
The rest is mostly awful.
