Minnesota defeated Phoenix in Game 1 at home.

Anthony Edwards notched 18 of his 33 points in the 3rd quarter and had 9 boards to help the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Phoenix Suns 120-95 at Target Center in Minneapolis, MN, to begin the 1st round of the postseason.

Karl-Anthony Towns finished with 19 points, Nickeil Alexander-Walker added 18 points, and Rudy Gobert had 14 points and 16 boards to secure Minnesota’s 1st Game 1 victory in the postseason in 20 years.

Kevin Durant notched 31 points on 11-for-17 shooting to lead Phoenix, whose disadvantages in depth and size were visible tonight. Devin Booker scored 18 points, and Bradley Beal scored 15 points, but Phoenix was outrebounded 52-28 and outscored 52-34 in the paint by Minnesota.

Game 2 is again at Target Center on Tuesday before the matchup heads to Phoenix.

Anthony led a 19-4 run to close the 3rd quarter as he stared at Kevin, who only smiled at the young Timberwolves star. The Wolves had sellouts for every match at Target Center this campaign for the 1st time since they moved into the venue 34 years ago.
