Man City informed of guilty verdict before the summer transfer window

The club from Etihad were reportedly made aware of their guilty verdict for breaches of the EPL financial rules a few months before it was announced publicly. The team spent heavily during the summer, breaking their transfer record twice for high-profile footballers before the independent panel’s decision was made public during the current international break.

The news was reportedly delivered to the Sky Blues months before it was announced, with rumors that this happened back in July.

While the guilty verdict concerned 114 of the 115 EPL financial rules that they broke, team owners were allegedly aware of what would happen before deciding to spend big during the summer.

The Sky Blues bought 7 players, paying more than 440 million pounds for them before the verdict was announced last Friday.

Manchester City broke their own transfer record twice this summer. They paid 116 million pounds for Elliot Anderson to Nottingham at the beginning of July, while securing Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea later for a joint-British-record fee of 125 million pounds.

However, the Sky Blues declined to comment on whether they knew months ago when reporters contacted them today.
