Controversial decision during the game between San Diego and San Francisco was overturned on review Wednesday night.
In the fifth inning at Oracle Park in San Francisco, Giants’ Blake Sabol appeared to be thrown out sliding into home by a strong throw by Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. on Pederson’s two-out single to right.
Sabol was ruled out, but the call was reviewed for quite some time and overruled when umpires suspended San Diego catcher Gary Sanchez for blocking the plate. Padres manager Bob Melvin was furious and even came out to argue, but his attempt to change the situation was unsuccessful.
The Giants get the run due to a blocking the plate call on the Padres. It was originally ruled an out.

“The throw took Sanchez up the line. Based on where he started, it looked like they showed the replay from when the throw was already on the way, and as a catcher, you have to have some feel for that. You’ve got to also understand the impact and where the runner was.”, Melvin explained after the game.
“To me, it was just one of the worst calls I’ve seen this year.”, he added. This is another controversial decision in MLB this season and it looks like it will lead to emergency meeting and changes to prevent such mistakes in the future.
