Having signed a four-year, $212 million contract with Philadelphia, George is now with his fourth NBA team. He previously spent seven years with the Indiana Pacers, two with the Oklahoma City Thunder, and five with the Los Angeles Clippers. Over his 14-year career, George, a nine-time NBA All-Star, has averaged 20.8 points per game.
This preseason game, held in Des Moines, Iowa, was also a homecoming for Philadelphia head coach Nick Nurse, who grew up in the state. Nurse, a graduate of Grand View University in Des Moines, had previously coached Minnesota’s G-League team. The event marked a return to familiar territory for Nurse while giving George an opportunity to showcase his talents in a new uniform.
