Oklahoma City secured the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander notched 15 points in 1 half on the court, and the Oklahoma City Thunder routed the Dallas Mavericks 135-86 at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, OK, to clinch the 1st seed in the Western Conference postseason.

OKC finished with the same 57-25 record as the Denver Nuggets but with a better head-to-head record finished above them. That is the team’s 1st top-seed finish since the 2012-13 campaign.

Aaron Wiggins notched 14 points, and Chet Holmgren added 13 points and 9 boards for Oklahoma City, which triumphed in their 5th consecutive match to close the regular campaign.

OKC began the day in a 3-way tie with Denver and Minnesota for the best record in the West. It was the 1st time in league history that 3 organizations began the campaign’s final day tied for a conference lead.

Oklahoma City must wait for the Play-In Tournament’s end to know who will play against them in the 1st round of the postseason.

National Basketball Association scoring leader Luka Doncic and star  Kyrie Irving were among the 4 starters that Dallas rested as, in their absence, Brandon Williams finished with 22 points for the Mavericks.

Dallas will play against the Clippers in LA in Game 1 of the Western Conference postseason series, while Oklahoma will host their future opponent in Game 1.
