Barcelona are currently in a fight with Bayern Munich to ink the Magpies striker Anthony Gordon.
The Catalan team are very keen to sign the Newcastle star and has already started discussions with the Premier League side over a potential transfer.
Although Barcelona have not been great financially in the past few seasons, the team can invest whatever it generates from the sales of players from the current squad. Bayern Munich are the other team that also held formal talks with the Magpies, but the Bavarian side is not willing to pay the price that Newcastle want for Gordon.
The Magpies’ chief executive, David Hopkinson, claimed a few months ago that the club would only sell footballers on its terms. Newcastle values Anthony at about 70 million pounds as the forward has a long-term contract with the side until 2030.
Newcastle will need to rebuild after the disappointing past campaign, as they finished 12th in the EPL and will not play in Europe. Gordon almost certainly will be sold this summer, as even the forward was on the bench for the final 4 matches of the season as Eddie Howe prepares the team for the future.
Barcelona are interested in a move for Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon but are unwilling to pay the Premier League’s asking price for the winger.
A move for the England international would fill the position held this season by on-loan forward Marcus Rashford.
