The GM deal was until June 30th.
Flames added that Don Maloney would be interim general manager and promoted to president of hockey operations.
“It’s a difficult day when you must part ways with a quality colleague and friend,” team president and CEO John Bean announced.
But for our supporters and business, we need to move forward, and we are confident with Maloney’s experience that we will find the right GM to build on Treliving’s work and lead our team to the Stanley Cup.”
Calgary will not be part of the playoffs for 5th time in the last 10 seasons. The Canadian club ended the season 37-28-17.
