Washington Capitals stage a late comeback to keep their playoff chances alive

Washington Capitals defeat Buffalo Sabres with 5-4 overtime win on Wednesday night to keep their faint playoff chances alive.


As things stands the Capitals find themselves 5 points off from top two spots that secure a wild card for the Eastern Conference with 12 games to play.

Tom Wilson tied the game with 68 seconds on the clock, before Evgeny Kuznetsov and T.J. Oshie both scored in overtime.

Oshie and Kuznetsov scored in regular time as well, along with Alex Ovechkin.

Goaltender Lindgren stopped shots from Alex Tuch and Tage Thompson in the shootout, before making 23 saves overall.

Ilya Lyubushkin, JJ Peterka, Tyson Jost and Zemgus Girgensons scored  for Buffalo, asUkko-Pekka Lukkonen made 35 saves for the Sabres, who have now lost seven out of their last nine games.
