Ferrari is gearing up to introduce a substantial overhaul to their SF-24, with the upcoming modifications potentially warranting the designation of a B-spec version. The unveiling of these upgrades is anticipated during the Imola race weekend (May 17-19), marking the first European leg of this year’s Formula 1 calendar.
Reports from Italian media suggest that elements of the revamped SF-24 draw inspiration from the successful RB20, which propelled Max Verstappen to victory in three out of the first four races of the season. Interestingly, early indications from both simulator testing and aerodynamic tunnel evaluations indicate that the performance of the new variant exceeds initial expectations, according to sources within Maranello who preferred to remain anonymous.
Enrico Cardile, Ferrari’s technical director, had previously hinted at the possibility of exploring various development avenues for the SF-24 over the course of the season. During the SF-24 unveiling prior to the start of the campaign, Cardile emphasized the importance of maintaining flexibility in the development process and focusing on concepts that yield the most promising and expeditious results.
It is speculated that the upcoming package of changes slated for May at Imola will mark the first of three major upgrades planned for the SF-24 throughout the season.
