The San Francisco Giants came out on top against the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-1 in a tightly-contested game on Saturday night, which saw Clayton Kershaw lose his first match since May 21.

The Los Angeles pitcher allowed an uncharacteristic go-ahead run when Max Muncy was unable to drive home an inning-ending double.
Kershaw had been 7-0 with a 1.96 ERA in 13 starts since a May 21 loss at St. Louis. Facing the Giants for the 59th time, he allowed a third-inning homer to Tyler Fitzgerald and gave up two runs and five hits in 5 1/3 innings.
Austin Slater walked leading off the sixth and advanced on a wild pitch at the score of 1-1. Luis Matos walked and Slater took third when Thairo Estrada grounded into a forceout.
With the result the Dodgers failed to reach the 100-win mark for a third straight season, but they still have a chance of completing that task going into the season finale.
