Nikita Kucherov sealed the deal with his second goal of the game, finding the net 3:12 into overtime, as the Tampa Bay Lightning secured a 4-3 victory against the struggling Seattle Kraken on Saturday night.
Contributing to the Lightning’s success, Anthony Cirelli notched a goal and an assist, while Nicholas Paul also added a goal. The Lightning, bouncing back with three wins in their last four games after a four-game skid, showcased resilience. Goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy played a crucial role, making 26 saves to secure the win.
Seattle, on the other hand, faced its seventh consecutive loss, despite goals from Oliver Bjorkstrand, Jamie Oleksiak, and Jared McCann, with Jordan Eberle tallying two assists. Philipp Grubauer made 12 saves out of 14 shots in the first two periods before exiting due to a lower body injury. Joey Daccord took over and made five saves for the remainder of the game.
In the overtime thriller, Kucherov capitalized on a backhanded pass from Brandon Hagel, firing the puck past Daccord for his league-leading 19th goal of the season. Kucherov’s impactful performance also included an assist, elevating his season scoring total to an impressive 47 points.
