Lawrence Stroll confirms talking to Newey ‘for years’

Aston Martin team owner Lawrence Stroll has revealed in an interview with Bloomberg that he has been trying to lure legendary designer Adrian Newey to his team for years. Newey, one of Formula 1’s most celebrated engineers, is set to leave Red Bull at the start of 2025 after nearly two decades with the team.

“Adrian and I haven’t spoken in months, actually years. He is clearly the most talented and gifted person in F1 based on his achievements. So I would be excited if Adrian joined our team, and I think every other team would say the same,” Stroll said, acknowledging the allure that Newey brings to any Formula 1 outfit.

When pressed on whether Newey would indeed be heading to Aston Martin, Stroll responded optimistically, saying, “I certainly hope so.”
