Mike Elliott leads the technical team of the Silver Arrows back in Brackley

The start of the 2023 season in Formula 1 was quite difficult for Mercedes. Team boss Toto Wolff called the Bahrain Grand Prix “one of the team’s worst days” in the sport. For more than a year, the technical team led by Mike Elliott was unable to make the concept work and this has led to an ultimatum to him.

If the planned changes for the car in the next races do not bring the long awaited progress, he will be replaced.

“Last year we had big problems with bouncing, but in the winter we solved a lot of them. We started the pre-season testing with the feeling that we have a better car. We don’t think we got the best out of the car. We’re still getting to know it.

We have a new build in development. It will not be the same as other teams, but it will also be different from the current one. It will just be different. The new radiator boxes are part of the planned development of the F1 W14.”, Toto Wolff said.
