Rafael Ortega the hero with phenomenal 6th inning

The New York Mets saved themselves from an embarrassment as they defeated the Atlanta Braves 7-6 in a hard-fought match on Sunday night.

Rafael Ortega was the star of the show as he had two hits in an incredible 6th inning to help his team overcome a 3-0 deficit.

The 32-year-old finished with three hits overall, one short of his career record.

“To beat one of the best teams in baseball — we know they’re operating on all cylinders and giving you their best shot,” Mets manager Buck Showalter said. “So anytime you can beat them, it’s hard.”

Jeff McNeil had three singles, including a run-scoring hit in the third.

Drew Smith retired Murphy, the potential go-ahead run, for the final out of the eighth and Adam Ottavino notched his seventh save with a spectacular ninth.
