It was a must-win game for the Norwegians, who suffered a devastating first-game loss to Kazakhstan after being 2 goals in front and succumbing to regulation time defeat to Switzerland in Game 2.
Thomas Berg-Paulsen scored the lonely goal of the match at 14:05 as goaltender Henrik Haukeland achieved his first career World Championship shutout with 18 saved shots.
The game was pretty much in the balance as both teams created opportunities in front of goal. But despite their efforts the Slovenians were unable to put the pluck past Haukeland and the scored remained 1-0.
Norway still have vague chances of qualifying for the 1/4 finals, while the Slovenians will be fighting for their survival in the top division.
