The National Basketball Association announced that a record 125 foreign players from 40 countries six continents are part of the squads ahead of the start of the 2023/2024 season, including a record number from Canada (26) and France (14).
This marks the third consecutive season in which the rosters have included at least 120 players from outside the United States and the 10th in a row in which the NBA has at least 100 foreign players. All 30 teams in the League this year have at least one player from abroad.
The previous record for most non-US basketball players (121) and the current record for most countries (42) were set at the start of the 2021/2022 and 2017/2018 seasons, respectively.
Canada has the most non-US players for tenth season in a row, followed by France, Australia (9), Serbia (7) and Germany (6). Dallas and Oklahoma City each have eight foreigners, followed by Toronto and San Antonio with seven each, and Boston and Phoenix each with six.
