A furious Steve Kerr claimed the referees made a call he has never seen in his career in the league, and it was the reason for the Golden State Warriors’ 91-90 defeat against the Houston Rockets and the opportunity to go to the NBA Cup ½ finals in Las Vegas.
“I’m really mad at the moment,” Steve revealed, echoing Golden State locker room after the defeat. “I wanted to advance to the ½ finals. Our team’s focus was to win the NBA Cup, and we did not have the chance because of a loose ball foul 80 feet from the basket with the match on the line. I never experienced such a decision in my time in the NBA, and that was wrong.”
With Golden State leading by 1 point in the game’s final moments, Steph Curry missed a 3-pointer and a scramble for the loose ball as Jalen Green ended up fouling with less than 4 seconds left.
The Rockets player scored both free throws to give Houston a 91-90 lead. This was enough for Houston to end a 15-match losing streak against Golden State and advance to the semifinals of the in-season tournament in Las Vegas.
