According to Giannis, winning the Rookie of the Year could be just the beginning for the French talent

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is confident that Victor Wembanyama is destined to dominate the NBA in the near future. “As long as Victor is healthy, the league is his.”

Although admitting he hasn’t closely followed Wembanyama’s performances, Giannis is aware of the buzz surrounding the young San Antonio Spurs player. Despite his limited basketball watching, he acknowledged the extraordinary moments that catch people’s attention, making him curious about Wembanyama’s impact on the court.

Having observed Wembanyama’s early career, particularly during his time with Giannis’ younger brother Kostas at ASVEL Villeurbanne, Giannis highlights the rookie’s innate understanding of the game. He emphasizes that while skills like strength, speed, dribbling, and shooting can be developed, having a natural feel for the game is a unique and invaluable trait.

Wembanyama’s impressive rookie season, averaging 20.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 3.2 blocks, positions him as a strong contender for Rookie of the Year, competing notably with Chet Holmgren of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

According to Giannis, winning the Rookie of the Year could be just the beginning for Wembanyama. He envisions a future where the French sensation achieves numerous accolades, including becoming a champion, an MVP, and fulfilling all the goals he has set for himself in the league, provided he remains healthy.
