Barcelona beat Real Madrid 1-0 at Santiago Bernabeu in the first El Clasico derby of the Spanish Copa del Rey semi-finals.
The Madrid side started the clash better and Karim Benzema scored within 12 minutes, but his goal was ruled out for offside. Just 14 minutes later Barcelona took the lead. Frank Kessie fired a shot, which was saved by Courtois, but luck was on Blaugrana’s side as the ball hit Eder Militao who scored an unfortunate own goal.
VAR decided to take a look at the whole situation, but didn’t find anything wrong and the goal stayed.
In the 72 minute Kessie again was at a good position to shoot from the penalty spot area, but the ball was blocked by one of his teammates. In the last minute of regular time Rodrygo sent a decent effort from the edge of the box, but the ball flashed just wide of the right post.
This way Barcelona clinched small, but valuable lead before the return game on April 5.
