The Los Angeles Dodgers clinched the 2024 World Series with a thrilling comeback victory over the New York Yankees, winning 7-6 in Game 5 at Yankee Stadium to take the series 4-1. After trailing 5-0, the Dodgers capitalized on key Yankees errors in the fifth inning, rallying to tie the game and then edging ahead late.

Yankees stars Aaron Judge and Jazz Chisholm Jr. set an early tone with back-to-back first-inning homers, and Giancarlo Stanton extended the lead with a solo shot in the third. But Yankees ace Gerrit Cole faltered in the fifth, and a missed catch by Judge opened the door for the Dodgers to level the score with a five-run inning driven by Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Teoscar Hernandez.
The Yankees briefly regained the lead in the sixth on Stanton’s sacrifice fly, but the Dodgers responded with two sacrifice flies in the eighth to make it 7-6. Walker Buehler, usually a starter, closed out the game with a flawless ninth inning, clinching the Dodgers’ second World Series title in five years and finally giving fans a chance to celebrate in full.
