After a lackluster performance in the previous game and facing the challenge of a back-to-back following their most one-sided loss of the season, Jayson Tatum redeemed himself with an impressive display. His Boston Celtics secured a 119-110 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night.
Tatum contributed significantly with 38 points and 11 rebounds, while Jaylen Brown added 35 points to the Celtics’ winning effort. Together, Tatum and Brown shot an efficient 24 of 43 from the field. In contrast, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving of the Mavericks were less effective, managing only 21 of 50 from the field. Doncic struggled from beyond the arc, hitting his first 3-pointer in the fourth quarter and finishing 2 of 8.
Despite Doncic recording a triple-double with 33 points, 18 rebounds, and 13 assists, he needed 30 shots to achieve this feat. Irving, returning from an unexpected break due to a postponed game, contributed 23 points. Tatum bounced back from a subpar performance in the previous game with an 11-of-21 shooting performance, including 15 of 19 from the free-throw line, adding two blocks and three steals.
Jrue Holiday chipped in with 17 points as the Celtics concluded a challenging stretch of 11 games in 18 days with an 8-3 record. The Celtics can now enjoy a well-deserved two-day break after a convincing performance, as their All-Star duo outshone the Dallas pair of Doncic and Irving who struggled after a four-day rest.
