Former US Open champion Emma Raducanu has announced through her management agency that she will delay her return to the court.
The Briton, who turned 21 on Monday, has not played since April. In May, she underwent wrist and ankle surgeries for injuries that have been bothering her for a long time.
Radukanu was due to take part in an exhibition tournament in Macau in December, but will extend her break from the tennis court.
The only qualifier to win a Grand Slam resumed training in August with a plan of returning to competitive mode in the new season. The Australian Open starts on January 15 and is the first major tournament of 2024.
After her injuries this season, Radukanu, who won the US title in 2021, has fallen to No. 289 in the world rankings and will have to fight her way back to the top.
