Charles Leclerc has admitted that Ferrari had to change their targets for the 2023 season after the opening race in Bahrain, where Red Bull clinched a dominant 1-2.
The Scuderia made a swift start to the new regulations in 2022 with Leclerc, winning the first 2 out of three races that campaign, but since then it has been a downhill for the red cars.
Ferrari currently sit 4th in the Constructors, falling behind the likes of Mercedes and Aston Martin with Red Bull uncatchable at the front.
“Before the first race, the target was to do a step better compared to last year, which was to win the world championship.” Leclerc said.
“If we look at the first half of the year, we are very far from where we put our expectations before the season. So, on the other hand, as soon as we understood that we reset it and there was an incredible reaction from the team.”
