The much-anticipated rematch between boxing titans Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury for the world heavyweight championship has been officially confirmed. Turki Alalshikh, a key financier in the sport, announced on X (formerly known as Twitter) that the event, titled “Reignited,” will take place on December 21 at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This bout will mark their second encounter, with the first fight on May 18 ending in a split decision victory for Usyk. Rumors had circulated earlier this summer about a potential rematch later in the year, but Alalshikh’s post has now solidified the date and location.

Alalshikh has played a significant role in bringing major boxing events to Riyadh, shifting some of the sport’s spotlight away from traditional venues in the UK and USA. If Fury wins the rematch, he will reclaim his WBC title and potentially set the stage for an all-British heavyweight showdown against Anthony Joshua, provided Joshua overcomes Daniel Dubois in their upcoming fight in London.
