Manchester City beat Sunderland 5-3 to top Premier League

Man City head into the international break in a fantastic spirit after enjoying a perfect weekend in the Premier League.

The Sky Blues saw champions Arsenal lose 3-0 to Brighton yesterday, and they took advantage today, defeating Sunderland 5-3 in an incredible game at Etihad Stadium.

Head coach Enzo Maresca revealed today before the match against the Black Cats that this would be his team’s toughest test in the current campaign, but the victory made his team the only remaining team in the league that hadn’t lost a single point since the beginning of the season.

“I must admit that I prefer 1-0 victories rather than 5-3, but I knew that it would not be easy,” the Italian manager shared after the Sky Blues victory.

Maresca became only the 6th boss in EPL history to win his 1st 5 matches in charge of the team after Carlo Ancelotti, Craig Shakespeare, Maurizio Sarri, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
