Immobile hospitalized after car crash

Lazio striker and captain Ciro Immobile has remained at the hospital for further observation after suffering a severe car crash earlier on Sunday.

Lazio announced that Immobile suffered a compound fracture of a rib and trauma to his spine.

Immobile was in his car with his family when the incident occurred as a tram run over his vehicle, almost wrecking it in half.

Despite the gruesome nature of the crash there were no apparent serious injuries, as the 33-year was been filmed explaining that the tram “ran a red light” and with the exclusion of some pain in the arm he was generally fine.

However, Immobile along with his two daughters was taken to hospital for further checks and it was confirmed that he had a broken rib and spinal trauma.

All this means that Immobile is likely to miss Lazio’s next couple of games. He has found the back of the net 10 times this season, as Lazio look strong to finish in the Champions League spot, despite trailing leaders Napoli by mountainous 14 points.
