Jon (28-1) dominated Stripe (20-5), and the logical thing happened with his knockout win at 4:29 of the 3rd round. The fight was originally scheduled to take place a year ago in the same month, but Jon was forced out because of a torn pectoral muscle. The most interesting topic before the UFC 309 among the fans of the sport was whether Jones would want to fight interim champ Tom Aspinall if he triumphed.
After the victory at Madison Square Garden, Jones revealed that it is possible.
“At the moment, I don’t think about retirement,” Jon claimed, sharing that he would discuss this with UFC president Dana White. “We will have conversations. If things work the way I and the UFC want, maybe I will fight for the title.”
Jon Jones remains adamant that he does NOT want to fight Tom Aspinall, and wants to fight Alex Pereira next
