The battle will be in Riyadh on Saturday

Former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua (United Kingdom) is well aware of the importance of his upcoming match against Sweden’s Otto Wallin in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday.

Joshua relinquished his championship belts in the WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO versions after a defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in September 2021, followed by a rematch loss to the Ukrainian in August of the following year.

In 2023, AJ secured victories against Jermaine Franklin in April and Robert Helenius in August. The upcoming bout with Wallin is another step towards the possibility of regaining contender status for the world title.

“My heart, soul, and every cell in my body are fully focused on the fight with Otto Wallin. I hope to do what I know I can. I am aware of where I am in my life and career. But I must emphasize that this is a turning point for me, and if I don’t succeed, I have no future. That’s why I am highly motivated to do my job against Wallin,” commented the 34-year-old Briton, who has three losses in 29 heavyweight matches as a professional.

The 33-year-old Wallin has only one loss in 28 encounters, and that came against the undefeated WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (United Kingdom) in September 2019.
