When manager Steve Kerr met with his players today, he shared the Olympic basketball competition standings and revealed the importance of not just defeating Puerto Rico in their final pool match tomorrow but also doing everything possible to be with the largest margin possible.
Point differential is a tiebreaker for seeding in the ¼ finals that starts next week. Team USA, at plus-43, begins the 3rd pool play match with the best number in the field. The Americans have a 10-point edge over Germany, which faces France today, and want his team to be the top seed.
“We want to be the top seed,” Team USA head coach shared. “It gives you the best matchup in the ¼ finals. So, if we drop down to 2 or 3 – which in my opinion is almost impossible, but we must take care of our business – we possibly have a much tougher matchup.”
Steve Kerr said Jrue Holiday "rolled his ankle the other night." He's considered questionable to play against Puerto Rico on Saturday.
