Former Liverpool and England defender Jamie Carragher is another soccer expert who spoke out against the increasingly frequent transfers of players to Saudi Arabia, where they receive huge contracts impossible for Europe.
More than a dozen players have already left for the Middle East and Carragher believes that this is not helpful.
“This sports washing needs to be stopped”, he said. So far, Edouard Mendy, Hakim Ziyech, Kalidou Koulibaly and N’Golo Kante have all signed with various Saudi Arabian clubs in the span of couple of days, with Real Madrid star Karim Benzema also opting to accept a huge contract before that.

The first in this wave was Cristiano Ronaldo, who moved to the Middle East in Al Nassr back in January.
