Luton captain Tom Lockyer have suffered a cardiac arrest, the club confirmed in a statement. The defender collapsed on the field in the 55th minute in the Premier League clash against Bournemouth and after both medical teams rushed to the scene, he was stretchered off the field conscious.
Both teams decided to suspend the game and not to continue today as neither line up was in the right state of mind to play after the incident.

Later on Luton confirmed in a statement that Lockyer suffered a heart issue and the problem isn’t connected with a head injury, as it was reported before. Thankfully, the player is in stable condition in hospital, where further checks will be made to determine his health.

“Our medical staff have confirmed that the Hatters captain suffered cardiac arrest on the pitch, but was responsive by the time he was taken off on the stretcher. He received further treatment inside the stadium, for which we once again thank the medical teams from both sides.
Tom was transferred to hospital, where we can reassure supporters that he is stable and currently undergoing further tests with his family at his bedside. We would like to thank everyone for their support, concern and loving messages for Locks.”
