The university fired its head coach after only 11 games.

Mississippi State shared today that they have fired boss Zach Arnett after just 1 campaign.

Arnett, who worked as the Bulldogs’ defensive coordinator for 3 years, was promoted to manager almost a year ago after the sudden death of Mike Leach. Zach’s hiring also came with the program looking for an athletic director, as John Cohen had left a little more than 4 weeks earlier to become Auburn athletic director.

Mississippi State (4-6, 1-6 in the SEC) were defeated in 6 of their last 8 matches as the latest loss was 51-10 against Texas A&M, which just dismissed its manager, Jimbo Fisher, during the weekend.

“As part of my thorough and continued assessment of the situation, I have decided that a change in leadership is obligated to move Mississippi State football program ahead and position it for the greatest results possible,” the program’s athletic director, Zac Selmon, wrote today to the media.
